Location

Ockham is one of 196 villages in Surrey, covering 2,871 acres.  The village lies for the most part to the east of the A3 between Cobham and Guildford.  Other neighbouring villages include Wisley, the Horsleys and Ripley.  Guildford Borough Council is the local authority.  The nearest railway stations are Effingham and East Horsley with direct lines to London. There is also a fast train service from Woking. There are good commuter routes into London via the A3 and M25 and the parish is close to both Heathrow and Gatwick airports.

Ockham is surrounded by agricultural land and woodland.  Ockham Common, which is part of the Thames Basin Heath Special Protection Area, is home to rare birds including the nightjar, Dartford warbler, woodlark and the hobby and is a nationally important site for both dragonflies and damselflies.  It is very popular with walkers, cyclists and horse riders.  Ockham Lane is on the Surrey Cycling Route and the village is near the route of the Tour of Britain cycle race and the London Surrey 100.
